Each summer many storms threaten Juno
Beach. There is a small window of time during a storm’s
approach when we have the opportunity to prepare for the
storm and evacuation if necessary. We do not have time
to attend to hurricane preparations for individual
units. |
It is an
immense burden to attend to the general protection of
our facilities. Please avoid calling us during this
period as we are frantic to finish the final storm
preparations and make important decisions. After the
storm, our first priority is to repair any damage to
buildings and grounds as soon as possible. |
In order to inform
everyone what the situation is here, as soon as we have
power we will put a message on the office answering
machine and email everyone who has given us an email
address. This may have to be done from another location
so please be patient. |
It is vital that we have
an accurate, updated contact number where each owner can
be reached during this period.. |
Preparing for these storms MUST be done
to your unit before YOU leave for the
summer. |
FUNCTIONS TO BE
PERFORMED BEFORE LEAVING FOR THE SEASON: |
Make sure that your hurricane shutters are
closed
|
Make sure that your balconies are cleared of any
thing freestanding (chairs, plants, etc)
|
Make sure your entrance is clear (No mats or
planters)
|
Make sure that your
refrigerator and freezer are empty. In the event of
prolonged power outages food items will spoil and turn
moldy. If you turn off the power to the refrigerator,
prop open the doors to allow for air
circulation.
|
Make
sure to empty the ice
maker. When returning let the cold water run for 15
minutes and discard the first 4 or 5 batches of ice.
There is a possibility that the water supply may have
been compromised during your absence.
